”Happiness does not consist in amusement. In fact, it would be strange if our end were amusement, and if we were to labor and suffer hardships all our life long merely to amuse ourselves….The happy life is regarded as a life in conformity with virtue. It is a life which involves effort and is not spend in amusement."
Think about this for a minute. Put it in terms of our digital age that we live in. Think of how amusing it is to spend hours staring at a screen watching videos of goats screaming... Overall, how much did this POSITIVELY affect your overall happiness? None??? Exactly.
A life of effort is a life filled with satisfaction. I started Lockhart's Authentic while working a full time job and going to school full time (on and off to be fair). I would spend most of my day working so I could put food on my table, at home I would prepare and test new formulas until I came up with the perfect product (in my eyes of course) and then I would continue to perfect it, I somehow would manage to find time to put 2 -3 hours towards my school studies everyday as well. Through my EFFORTS I can happily say that i have achieved HAPPINESS.
Through my efforts I was able to achieve the ability to leave my 9-5 to pursue my own business venture and stay at home with my wife and dogs. Had I spent my hours away from work watching videos about cute kittens I would have never developed our Medium Hold Hair Pomade (our first product) which led to my ability to have the freedoms of self employment. Now I have no downtime. And no regrets.
Now it's your turn.
How can you increase your efforts in life?
When will you start?
